In this season of gratitude, we’re feeling particularly thankful for opportunities to travel to several conferences in recent weeks. Here are a few highlights of what we’ve been up to.
+ REACH President/CEO Melissa James and Executive Vice President Russ Levanway joined several other Central Coast business leaders in the Big Apple for the World Business Forum, where they heard from internationally acclaimed speakers on topics of leadership, innovation and transformation. And to see transformation in action, they toured Brooklyn’s Industry City, 35 acres of repurposed industrial space that has spurred 7,500 new jobs and welcomes thousands of visitors every day.
+ Melissa, Russ and Project Manager Michael Foote joined local government representatives at the California Economic Summit in Bakersfield, produced by California Forward in partnership with the California Stewardship Network. Alongside sessions on building sustainable, equitable regional economies, the group toured the Mojave Air and Space Port, where they got a sneak peak at the Stratolaunch Roc launcher and hypersonic, reusable Talon that will land at Vandenberg Space Force Base early next year. Check out the simulation below.
+ Policy + Economic Development Vice President Joshua Boswell was in Riverside for the California Association for Local Economic Development’s Finance and Real Estate Summit to present on the Central Coast’s regional approach to advancing infrastructure projects at Vandenberg.
+ Josh was also up in San Francisco for the first meeting of the National Renewable Energy Lab’s West Coast Port Strategy Study group.
+ The whole team retreated to the rugged ranchlands of eastern San Luis Obispo County for some strategic planning as we round out the year and get ready to dive in to 2023. It was a perfect setting to step away from the daily grind and consider the big picture — a new take on #remotework. 😉
