Industry steps up to build next-gen workforce

Local employers aren’t just hiring — they’re helping shape the future of the workforce.

Trust Automation, a longtime REACH supporter and leader in precision manufacturing, is partnering with the San Luis Coastal Education Foundation and school district to launch a new student apprenticeship program.

The program will prepare students for direct entry into high-demand roles manufacturing semiconductors, uncrewed aircraft systems, and other advanced industrial components — all fast-growing sectors across the Central Coast.

“This program helps us build the skilled workforce we need, and opens the door for local students to step into meaningful, future-focused careers,” said Trust CEO Ty Safreno, a REACH founding board member and Founders Circle supporter.

“This is a powerful example of what’s possible when industry leaders invest directly in the future of our community,” SLCEF Executive Director Christine Robertson said. “Thanks to the vision and commitment of Trust Automation, this industry-sponsored initiative is opening doors for students to access real-world training, mentorship, and career pathways that didn’t exist before.”

Meanwhile, ESAero, another REACH Founders Circle supporter, has teamed up with SLO Partners to sponsor aerospace manufacturing bootcamps — including its largest cohort to date earlier this spring.
